Ig N. Terblanche was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1978. His preferred mediums are printmaking and charcoal drawings though he produces artworks in various mediums and enjoys experimenting with new mediums and different techniques.
He studied at the Tshwane University of Technology (it was then known as the Pretoria Technicon) from 1998 to 2000 and he completed his National Diploma in Graphic Design. His earlier works were primarily landscapes. His works evolved with time to more figurative works such as portraits and works that requires the viewer to interpret the work through the viewers own frame of reference that was formed by the viewers experiences in life. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Pretoria, George and Cape Town, South Africa and he took part in various group exhibitions.
His current works are exhibited at Cape Palette Gallery in George and Trent Gallery in Pretoria. In 2013 he was one of the Top 100 finalists in the Sanlam Portrait Award and in 2015 the was one of the Top 40 finalists and part of the exhibition that toured through South Africa in 2015 and 2016. He lives and work in an old farm school between Oudthoorn and George in South Africa.
